Located on the South-East of Montalcino in Castelnuovo dell’Abate, Poggio di Sotto is considered on the best portion of the hill for growing Sangiovese. The estate, with vineyards located from 200 to 400 meters above sea level, extends over an area of 48 hectares, 20 of which are planted with vines on steep, south-facing slopes that have an average gradient of 10%. Monte Amiata shields the estate, which is traversed by the river Orcia, from inclement weather and thus helps to provide Poggio di Sotto with a unique micro-climate in which to produce its famous Brunello di Montalcino.
