Description

Simply the beginning of a successful History! If we are all here is thanks to Clemente Santi that in 1800 brought back from Chianti the very first clone of Sangiovese Grosso and started to experiment in Montalcino. Simply the father of the appellation! Simply the bench mark for quality and Style! Is impossible to say “I like brunello” if you never had a sip of Biondi-Santi Wine! Definitely a must have for the cellar!

STYLE: The Tradition

POSITION: Center South of the Hill of Montalcino

A Rare Late Release

In a rare and highly anticipated decision, the estate has chosen to re-release a small number of bottles from the 2011 vintage after 15 years from the harvest. Carefully stored in the historic cellars of Tenuta Greppo, these bottles have matured slowly under ideal conditions and are now being offered to the market in extremely limited quantities.

This library release represents a unique opportunity for collectors and Brunello enthusiasts to experience the wine at a perfect stage of early maturity, exactly as the estate intended.

The 2011 Vintage

The 2011 growing season in Tuscany delivered ripe yet balanced fruit from the estate’s historic vineyards planted to Sangiovese Grosso, the traditional Brunello clone cultivated by Biondi-Santi for generations.

Fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged in large Slavonian oak casks, following the estate’s timeless winemaking philosophy, the wine preserves the purity and structure that define the house style.

Tasting Profile

After more than a decade of evolution, the 2011 Brunello reveals a beautifully complex bouquet:

  • Aromas: dried cherry, wild strawberry, rose petals, and sweet tobacco

  • Secondary notes: leather, forest floor, and balsamic nuances

  • Palate: elegant and layered, with refined tannins, vibrant acidity, and a long, savory finish

The extended bottle aging has allowed the wine to develop depth and harmony while retaining the freshness that characterizes Biondi-Santi Brunello.

Cellaring & Serving

Already entering a graceful drinking window, the 2011 will continue to evolve for many years to come. Decanting for 60–90 minutes will help reveal its full aromatic complexity.
