Description
The estate is probably the most innovative and unexpected of this territory. The creator is Francesco Illy (from the coffee-making family) decided to fulfill his dream on this unspoiled land, which until 1998 was inhabited by a shepherd and his sheep. Francesco’s and his team vision is to avoid any non-natural molecule in his vineyards and estate (which includes farming animals and a beautiful vegetable garden). Podere Le Ripi started biodynamic farming in 2012 and obtained a Demeter certification. The vineyards are divided between East and West side of Montalcino, holding completely different soil characteristics. The winery is renowned for its Bosai vineyard: the densest one in the world. Vines are planted only 40 centimeters apart, resulting in a density of 62.500 plants per hectare.

Cielo d’Ulisse Brunello di Montalcino 2017
VINOUS – 92 Points – Ripe-berry, cedar, dried-flower and dried orange-peel aromas follow through to a full body, yet it’s very tight and reserved with very fine, intense tannins that give focus and length to the wine. Really long and focused. Hints of dried mushroom and citrus rind at the end. Best ever. Drink after 2024 and onwards.
